JOHN VYGE

John Vyge, CFP® (US & Canada) is a University of Toronto educated Canadian American who is a three time published author of the The Dragons' Den Business Guidebook Series. He is currently the managing director of Hillebrand Financial Planning, a Registered Investment Advisory Firm for middle and high net worth families, which he launched in 2005. John is also a Lean Startup Machine Washington, DC winner who acts in a consulting capacity as Entrepreneur in Residence for startups, a role that allows him to assist with business-building processes for startups seeking scalable paths to revenue.

John's first successful startup as a teenager was VJ Rickshaw Tours, which he launched alone with $800 in capital he had saved working as a busboy and turned it into a six figure summer business with 55 rickshaws and paid corporate advertisers including New Balance, Labatt, Coors, and Vuarnet. After receiving an academic scholarship to the University of Toronto, he moved the business to Toronto which allowed him to create jobs that helped hundreds of students pay for college and university, help fund his brother Rob's Med School, and ignite a lifelong passion for the startup process.

John, his Canadian American wife Sandra and their two daughters live in Ashburn, Virginia where he is the managing director of a successful 12 year planning practice. In his spare time, he enjoys competing in endurance events as a way to spend time with his family outdoors, having completed a marathon, century rides, and triathlons, and he recently qualified for the 30 hour USARA Adventure Race National Championships in Georgia. He is also an advanced martial artist in both Kenpo Karate and Tae Kwon Do,  and a former competitive junior ranked tennis player.
